GFF09: NOSFERATU
David Allison, who recently played the GFT with his ST KILDA TAPES project, returned as part of the Glasgow Film Festival with his live score performance of the classic silent German vampire movie.
Using predominantly guitar the performer gradually layered other sounds on top of it and added the voiceover of a young Scottish lady (it makes sense in context, trust me) and created a very atmospheric soundscape against which the tale of Dracula (okay, Orlok) unfolded.
It's not the first time I've seen this version of the Dracula tale with live accompaniment but it's certainly the best.
