EIFF2008: Trail of the Screaming Forehead

Larry Blamire's latest cult movie tribute to classic B-movies sees a race of alien foreheads invade Earth and enslave the population - but unknown to them, a leading scientist is currently investigating the mystical powers of the forehead and just might be the man to stop them...
If you're a fan of 50s B-movies involving rampaging monsters or alien invasions, this is a film for you. Blamire clearly loves the genre but has a great time mocking it for all it's worth. Some of the humour stems from quality slapstick but most comes from his curious slant on B-movie dialogue. You'd think it would get tired after an entire movie but the utterly straight delivery by the cast (including cameos from the likes of Kevin McCarthy) keep it fresh.

I'm not sure it would be as much fun on repeated viewings or on your own, but if you get the chance to see this one in a cinema or with a crowd of people you should easily get your money's worth from an hour and a half of lovable mayhem.
